Madalena Almeida
Born in 1997, Madalena studied theatre & film in both high school and college before beginning to actively work as an actor in 2015. In theatre, she collaborated with various Portuguese companies and directors performing in notable plays such as Ibsen’s DOLL’S HOUSE; PEER GYNT; Koltès’s CAIS OESTE; and John Logan’s PETER AND ALICE. In the beginning of 2023, she founded her own theatre group called CASA. On screen, Madalena has worked extensively in productions which include: the drama UNTIL LIFE DO US PART which was directed by Manuel Pureza for Netflix; as ‘Marisa Vasques’ in SANTA BÁRBARA; as ‘Vitória’ in ALMA E CORAÇÃO; LÚCIA - A GUARDIÃ DO SEGREDO by Jorge Paixão da Costa; and the feature RAMIRO which was directed by Manuel Mozos. Her performance as ‘Marta’ in the television series PRAXX earned Madalena a Golden Globe nomination (Portuguese Academy Awards) for Best Actress. Recently, she played the leading role of ‘Salomé’ in João Canijo’s film BAD LIVING, which premiered at the 73rd Edition of Berlinale, and which went on to win the Silver Bear Jury Prize.
